CORE and Firearms Safety Course

The next CORE and Firearms safety course will be held from 7:00 – 10:00 pm at the WLSA clubhouse on Bond Lake Road every Tuesday and Thursday starting February 8th, 2011 and will continue for four weeks. 

Individuals aged 10 years and up are eligible to sign up for CORE.  The cost for CORE is $120.00 which includes the book. 

The PAL and Restricted PAL programs will also be offered.

CORE

C.O.R.E. and Firearms Safety Courses

C.O.R.E. stands for Conservation and Outdoor Recreation Education.  Anyone wanting to get a hunting license for the first time must have passed this course.

CORE (hunter training) and Canadian Firearms Safety Courses (CFSC) are periodically offered at the club.

Cost of the CORE course is $120.00.  The firearms portion is only $90.00.

Challenge exams are $20.00 for CORE and $25.00 for CFSC.

PAL (formerly FAC)

P.A.L stands for Federal Firearms Possession and Acquisition License which replaces the former Firearms Acquisition Certificate (F.A.C.). 

Anyone who wished to buy, borrow, trade or obtain by any means a firearm is required to possess a PAL.  A person who only wants to keep the firearms he or she has must have either the acquisition or possession license issued by January 1st, 2001. 

In order to obtain the acquisition license a person must pass both written and practical firearms handling exams.  The cost of the exam is $25.00.
